Ways to help | Docent/Tour GuideDocents provide behind-the-scenes tours that include a visit to WGBH’s TV and radio production facilities, performance spaces, and more. Our Brighton studios provide the perfect venue to welcome the public for screenings, live music, and other events that amplify the impact of public media. Read more about our studio tour program.TV PledgeTV pledge volunteers answer phones and record pledges of support from donors as part of WGBH's fundraising drives. Volunteering during our live fundraising drives is a great way to meet new people, experience the thrill of being on a live TV set, and support local public media.Office SupportThe Development Office at WGBH is open year-round, and we always appreciate assistance with a variety of administrative tasks. These include helping with mailing projects, data entry, writing and editing scripts for the annual WGBH Auction, photocopying, making phone calls, organizing, and filing.Community AmbassadorCommunity Ambassadors promote WGBH membership to the public at events held in our Brighton studios and out in the community. Volunteering for this position lets you participate in community events as a representative of WGBH, meeting new people while sharing your passion for public media.Holiday Auction VolunteerResponsibilities include: Make calls to current and potential donors to ask for an auction donation. Cultivate and send proposals and donation forms via fax or email. Make additional follow-up calls as needed to ensure donations are received. Qualifications include: The ideal candidate is passionate about WGBH and familiar with the Foundation’s mission; self-motivated; persuasive; deadline-driven; able to work in a fast-paced environment; and comfortable using the telephone as a primary cultivation tool. Volunteers should also be comfortable sending emails and using a fax machine. Training: An Auction staff member will train and review goals with each volunteer. Once training is complete, Auction volunteers should be able to work independently with minimum supervision. Time Commitment: Holiday Auction volunteers are needed in the office September 1-December 31, approximately 8-12 hours a week. Office hours are generally 10am-4pm, Monday-Friday. |
