Our mission Our mission is to be the primary source and resource for regional teacher talent recruitment and initiatives. This includes a role for TWM to not only actively recruit, prepare, and support teacher candidates directly, but to also play a lead role in developing and facilitating a robust regional community of teacher talent partners and practitioners. We achieve this through the cultivation of a strong network of partners with shared needs. Our partners include district and charter schools, local and state education agencies, and local institutes of higher education. Importantly, all of TWM’s teacher recruitment efforts focus on improving the quality, quantity, and diversity of teacher candidates in Western Massachusetts, with a specific emphasis on diversity.

Ways to help

TWM AmeriCorps

We are thrilled to be able to offer you the opportunity to serve with TWM AmeriCorps Professional Corps, in conjunction with the Residency or Certified teacher experience. TWM AmeriCorps members are community-driven individuals who serve in the communities they live and work, and are motivated by dismantling systems of oppression that create barriers for their students and community. The AmeriCorps term spans the length of the school year and your primary service activity is teaching in a K-12 partner school to create culturally responsive classrooms where the community is centered and student identity and voice is celebrated. The TWM AmeriCorps program was carefully designed to build off of the TWM Residency, focusing on engaging students in the classroom and community by making learning contextual and relevant through proven engagement strategies. During your service, you will receive training and guidance to facilitate a service-learning project with a group of your students and approaches to identify and incorporate community assets and resources into your classroom! Volunteers must be 18+, have a Bachelor's degree, be a US citizen/national/legal permanent resident, pass a criminal history check, and be accepted into the TWN Residency or Certified Teacher program.
