Ways to help

What can I do to help the BSO?

What can I do to help the BSO/Boston Pops while live performances are unable to take place? As a nonprofit, the BSO and Boston Pops rely on revenue from ticket sales which covers nearly half of our budget. You can help in any of these ways:
  • Donate the value of your tickets back to the BSO. Contact the BSO’s Customer Service Department at [email protected]or call 617-266-1200.
  • Several generous BSO Board members and friends have joined together in these unprecedented times to match contributions made to the Boston Symphony Orchestra from May 15 through August 31, 2020. The matched funds apply to new annual contributions and ticket donations, both of which are tax-deductible. The matched funds enable the BSO – the non-profit organization that owns and operates Tanglewood – to share the joy of music online with the Tanglewood 2020 Online Festival and other virtual programming, and to ensure that the BSO and Tanglewood are ready and able to welcome concertgoers in-person when the time is right. Beyond the joy that comes from supporting musical artists and programs, donors of $100 or more will receive complimentary access to all programs in the Tanglewood 2020 Online Festival. Give today to amplify the impact.

How you helpThe BSO and Tanglewood have relied on the assistance of volunteers for decades. During the 2018–19 season, some 700 volunteers donated nearly 25,000 hours of their time in passionate support of the BSO and Tanglewood. For more than 30 years, the Boston Symphony Association of Volunteers has been a valued partner in helping the BSO maintain its legacy of musical excellence and sustain its community and educational engagement programs to spread the joy of music in Boston, the Berkshires, and beyond.
About usHailed as America’s premier summer music festival, Tanglewood traditionally offers a sublime experience of musical performances and learning amidst the pastoral beauty of the Berkshire Hills. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Tanglewood transformed to share music through the Tanglewood 2020 Online Festival. Offerings included dozens of concerts featuring the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Fellows from The Tanglewood Music Center, and some of the world’s greatest performers, while the Tanglewood Learning Institute continued its engaging programs for curious minds to inspire dialogue and deepen understanding of music, the arts, and the human spirit. With your support, Tanglewood can continue to share its world-class programs each summer, both in the Berkshires and beyond.
