Scituate Animal Shelter
Ways to help | Facilities VolunteerThese volunteers help with routine maintenance of our shelter and our grounds, for example, helping to plow our paths when it snows so that our dogs can be walked. Trades experience is a plus (landscaping, carpentry, painting, etc).TNR Team MemberOur TNR programs help feral cats stay healthy and keep populations humanely in check. Cats are humanely trapped, neutered, and then returned to their colonies to life out their lives more healthfully.Transportation TeamThese volunteers provide transport for pets going to veterinary appointments or surgeries, grooming, or even taking them to their new adoptive homes. Animals are generally crated for transport.Cleaning VolunteerOur normal protocols at SAS include lots of cleaning, but given current circumstances, they are now kicked up a notch!Committee MembersSimply put, volunteer committees at SAS help keep staff costs down so we can help more animals. Our committees are made up of Board members and regular volunteers and include: Finance & Audit Committee , Fundraising Committee , Communications Committee , Human Resources Committee, Gala Committee.FosteringFoster families bring pets temporarily into their homes, caring for cat moms and kittens, as well as providing love and care for the dogs and cats whose health or emotional issues make shelter life too hard. SAS provides all food and supplies, fosters just must have time, patience and space! |

About us | In 2017, SAS celebrated its 25th year of helping Massachusetts animals. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for both the companion animals and the people of our community by providing shelter and placement for homeless animals and support through community services and humane education. In the past five years alone, our shelter has found homes for 2280 animals from all over Massachusetts. Pets come to us as strays, as surrenders from owners no longer able to care for them, and as transfers from shelters and animal control facilities with no more room. Because of the generosity of our donors, we continue to make a positive impact on animal welfare in our community by offering services that promote the health and well being of companion animals and address the root causes of pet homelessness. We strive to help our region's pet owners and to educate adopters and the public about animal welfare issues. |
