Our mission

Rise Above is dedicated to providing Massachusetts children in foster care with enriching activities, opportunities, and experiences.
Opportunities

Put Together a Launch Box

Each year, hundreds of Massachusetts youth age out of the foster care system. Launch Boxes provide a few basic necessities as these young adults transition out on their own for the first time. A Launch Box is a plastic bin filled with basic supplies—such as towels, toiletries, and utensils—that will help young adults transition out of foster care to independent living. Specifically designed for young adults (18 to 23 years old) without a traditional safety net, Launch Boxes are given to the young adult by their social worker as a tangible and practical gift from the community.

Launch Boxes are a great way for community groups to donate in a tangible, meaningful way and help a local young adult transition out of foster care. Items can be found at dollar stores and other discount retailers. Small groups can divide up the list and individuals can shop separately to contribute to one Launch Box.

Donate Items for Care Packages

Did you know that less than 3% of foster youth go to college? Help us support foster youth who are defying the odds with college care packages! Each youth will receive a special package full of college essentials and goodies.

We are accepting various items for care packages including:

Gift cards:

• Target
• iTunes
• Dunkin Donuts
• Starbucks
• Dominos
• Papa Gino’s

Food:

• Easy Mac
• Ramen
• Candy and Gum
• Mini cereal boxes
• Granola bars
• Microwave popcorn

Other:

• Shipping supplies
• Flash drives
• Ear buds
• Small/travel size toiletries
• Monetary donations which we’ll use for all of the above

Looking for a creative way to obtain some of these items? Organize your coworkers to hold a drive. Challenge your friends to solicit donations from local stores. Ask your church group to collect items from community members.

Every little bit helps, and together, we can show these amazing youth that there are lots of people cheering them on! Please contact us with questions or to arrange pick-up/drop-off of donations.
