Ways to help

Outreach/Education/Prevention

For interested individuals there are opportunities to gain community development experience working with the community, and particularly adolescents, to inform them of the availability of Agency services, raise awareness of the facts related to sexual assault in Central Massachusetts specifically as well as nationally, and to teach adolescents about healthy relationships and the warning signs of potential trouble ahead in their romantic relationships.

Administrative

There are also opportunities to gain administrative experience working on fundraising projects, information/referral resource development, and office management. As a small Non-Profit we are always in need of volunteers willing to answer the phones, put together packets of information for Survivors and those trying to assist them and help us to keep the office organized.

Counseling

For interested individuals there are opportunities to gain experience providing counseling to callers to the Agency’s 24 hour crisis hotline. Individuals may also provide counseling on a 1:1 and/or Group basis to Survivors of sexual assault and/or significant others/family members of Survivors.

Medical or Legal Accompaniment

Interns/Volunteers trained as counselors willing to complete an additional unit of training can become certified as “Advocates”. Advocates provide support to Survivors and their loved ones at area hospitals following an assault while the Survivor is medically cleared and completes a forensic examination. Advocates may also be assigned to accompany a Survivor a local police station to complete a report on the assault or to Court if they choose to prosecute the perpetrator.

How you help Pathways for Change is doing everything in its power to end sexual violence and care for its Survivors, but we know we cannot succeed alone. We need each and every one of you to join our efforts, and to help us convince others to do so also.
About us As a freestanding rape crisis center, the efforts of the entire agency are focused on the issues related to sexual violence. Our sole commitment to these issues results in a deep and widespread impact throughout Central Massachusetts.
