Opportunities

Hospice Volunteer

Under the guidance and supervision of the Hospice Interdisciplinary Team, many volunteers opt to work directly with our clients in 1:1 or group settings. Opportunities are available for those seeking a different experience as well, including office assistance and more. Some examples include providing companionship, preparing meals, running errands, office support, gardening, crafts, and more.

Education Center

Volunteers play an important role tutoring students at our Educational Bridge Center. The following are examples of the programs our tutors may assist:

Basic high school math;
English vocabulary and grammar; reading, writing and conversational English;
Citizenship Preparation;
Nursing school prep – tutoring for TEAS exam; individual subject study support.

Our students are at different levels of need and also work many schedules that may change each week. Therefore, each tutor/student relationship is somewhat unique.

Indirect Care

Assist with planning, preparing and implementing social events.

Pedi Pals

Our Pediatric Palliative Care Program (Pedi Pals) is looking for kind, compassionate individuals who love to work with children. Provide companionship and developmentally appropriate play to alleviate a sense of isolation. Provide an opportunity for siblings to receive 1:1 companionship for support, tutoring and socialization. Provide caretaker with temporary respite, while caregiver is home. Assist with social events.

How you help

Notre Dame Health Care volunteers represent a wide range of ages, cultural backgrounds and skill sets. Volunteers may provide care to our patients and their families, as well as administrative support to our staff.
