NPC Berkshires Giving Opportunities

If you believe in nonprofits, you believe in us!

The Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires has been supporting the great work of our local nonprofit sector since 2016. We do so by serving as a clearinghouse for information and resources, providing a one-stop solution to daily challenges nonprofits face. By creating affordable opportunities for nonprofits to connect, learn and grow, the NPC works to improve the overall organization and efficiency of the nonprofit sector.
  1. Partner with us by funding programs nonprofits need and want in this new normal
  2. Become a monthly donor to help us keep the doors open
  3. Support our new "philanthropy in the schools" program

NPC Berkshires Volunteer Opportunities

Help us build strong nonprofits!

Volunteer from home to help us complete research projects. Help us grow our impact by doing outreach to the nonprofit community.
  1. BECOME AN NPC AMBASSADOR Check in with local nonprofits via phone or email.  What do they need that we might help with?  Are they aware of everything we are already doing?  We can provide you with a contact list and a script.  Reviewing the NPC web site will give you a good overview of our programs.
  2. RESEARCH PROJECTS Help us do primary research to assess our nonprofit sector. Could include internet research, phone surveys, or email outreach.
  3. IDENTIFY INACTIVE NONPROFITS Using our list in the Giving Back guide, and Guidestar.org, as well as Google, research nonprofits to see when they last filed a Form 990.  If filing has not been done since 2016, chances are they are defunct.  Do further research if unsure, ie. Googling to see if there any articles on the demise of the organization.  We will remove these organizations from our mailing list and get a better idea of the real size of the sector.

How you help The Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires was founded on the belief that we can leverage community assets to help nonprofits thrive. Volunteers like YOU are one of our greatest assets. You can make a difference in this community by donating your time, talent and treasure. We make it easy by giving you the information you need to get involved.
About us Berkshire County has one of the highest number of nonprofits per capita in the Commonwealth. Over 1,000 nonprofits compete for funding and other resources in a demographically and geographically trifurcated county with no regional government. Communication is difficult, there is no countywide volunteer organization, and staying on top of this vibrant and active sector is a real challenge. The sector needs an umbrella organization to facilitate collaboration, communication, advocacy, volunteerism, and the sharing of resources. The Nonprofit Center is a support and capacity-building organization for Berkshire nonprofits. Its mission is to help nonprofits connect, learn and grow by identifying gaps in services and leveraging community assets to provide creative and affordable solutions. The NPC has developed 20 programs in four years and has won two awards for community impact. Products and services include: referrals, coaching, workshops, Giving Back guide, networking events, philanthropy curriculum for schools, communication vehicles (newsletters, gala calendar, list serve), board training, nonprofit boot camp, Resource Directory, volunteer fairs, resource fair, primary research, and the Berkshire Nonprofit Awards.
