Money ManagementVolunteers help elders and adults living with disabilities maintain their independence by visiting them at home to assist with their bill-paying tasks, such as organizing the consumer’s bills, preparation of checks, and balancing and maintaining the check register.SHINE (Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone) CounselorCounselors help Medicare participants of all ages understand their Medicare benefits and other health insurance options by providing information and assistance about health insurance and public benefit options.Social Engagement ProgramVolunteers connect with older adults to provide social support through face-to-face visits, phone calls, or virtual connections through email.Long Term Care OmbudsmanVolunteers assist residents living in nursing and rest homes by working with program staff to advocate for the rights and needs of residents. Some facilities are located in the Mystic Valley area and others are in the North Shore area. The program belongs to AgeSpan (formerly Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley and North Shore). Contact AgeSpan Volunteer Programs at (978) 651-3128 or [email protected] to learn more.Nutrition ProgramVolunteers help individuals secure the food they need through assisting at one of our congregate dining sites, delivering nutritional supplements, and delivering meals to senior residences.Healthy Aging Group LeaderLeaders help people with chronic medical conditions to manage their medical problems and disabilities by leading the workshops that support, educate, and nurture a greater control over their lives.Office Support & Special ProjectsVolunteers contribute to resource development, administrative support and other areas of impact.Technology Access Program (TAP)The TAP Trainer volunteer conducts home visits to assist consumers with device set-up, account and password creation, and connection to internet service. The TAP Trainer supports consumers in their individualized sort-term tech goals, and will guide them through a curriculum suited for their specific devices and operating systems. |

About us | Since 1975, Mystic Valley Elder Services has partnered with individuals and caregivers across Massachusetts’ Mystic Valley region to ensure that older adults (age 60 and older) and adults living with disabilities have the support they need to live the life they choose. In addition to our services for individuals and caregivers, we advocate for the needs of older adults and adults living with disabilities in our region. We partner with adults of all ages living with disabilities to ensure that you have access to appropriate and effective services and programs. We offer an array of low-cost and no-cost services that support independent living in a community setting. We also offer educational and nutrition programs in senior housing facilities, senior centers and other community settings. Across all of our work, we’re guided by a commitment to help every individual achieve the quality of life they choose in a setting of their choice. |
