Our mission	The mission of School on Wheels of Massachusetts is to support the academic, social and emotional growth of students impacted by homelessness.

Opportunities	Mentor SOWMA Mentors are caring adults who spend time helping a high school or college student navigate post-secondary plans and transitions, academics, and career goals. Our mentors help students build self-sufficiency and strengthen their commitment to pursue education and career goals; assist with job shadowing, internships, and job networking; and help a student identify available resources within their community. Mentors should be 25 years old, hold a college degree and be currently employed or recently retired. Weekly, Monthly 21+, 55+ Individuals Indoor Formal Weekdays, Evenings Volunteer Tutor Tutors are paired with a student (grade K – 12) and work individually with that student for one hour a week for at least a full-term. School on Wheels provides free training and offers educational workshops and guidance throughout the semester. Volunteers serve as a consistent and caring role model as they help with homework, school projects and academic challenges. Tutors must be 18-years-old to tutor independently; otherwise those ages 14 – 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Weekly Teens, 55+, Adults Individuals Indoor Formal Weekdays, Evenings School Supply Drives You can make a difference for kids this summer by collecting new backpacks and school supplies so that even more children and teens have what they need to begin school in the fall. Occasional Teens, 55+, Adults Individuals, Groups (2-10), Families Event support On-site Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends Community Service Day Make an appointment to visit our East Bridgewater headquarters to learn more about family homelessness and the educational needs of our students. Participate in projects such as preparing backpacks for children of all ages and sorting and organizing book donations. Get your family, school, place of worship or business involved and help pay forward the gift of education. About us	School on Wheels of Massachusetts (SOWMA) recruits, trains and supports volunteers, who provide one-on-one tutoring and mentoring for children in kindergarten through grade 12. School on Wheels provides academic stability for children impacted by homelessness. We work closely with children, families, schools and shelter staff to create individualized services to ensure that each child brings confidence to the classroom and finds success. School on Wheels provides support for kids to turn their obstacles into opportunities for a brighter future.
