Ethos’ dedicated and passionate Ombudsman volunteers visit nursing facilities and rest homes in Boston on a regular basis and meet with residents and their families. Ombudsmen advocate for quality of life issues such as timely response by nursing facility staff to requests for assistance, facility cleanliness and meal quality. Ombudsman volunteers are absolutely crucial to the safety and wellbeing our city’s most vulnerable elders.

To Become an Ombudsman Volunteer, and give voice in advocacy to residents of Long Term Care facilities, one must attend a virtual training, lasting approximately 5 weeks, 3 partial days per week.
The Ombudsman Program is fully operational at this time, with safety measures being taken in each facility including: a private room with space for social distancing for meetings with residents, outdoor meetings when possible, PPE requirements, and more.
