Our mission

We are an organization dedicated to recruit volunteers who provide free,confidential and individualized tutoring to adults in basic literacy and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
Opportunities

Tutor

Are you interested in teaching a student to read or write (BL – Basic Literacy student)? Are you interested in helping a student learn to speak English (ESOL – English for Speakers of Other Languages)? We offer a six-week training course (two hours each session), taught by certified Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts (LVM) trainers. At the end of the training, you will be matched with a student and the fun begins!

How you help

Become an ESOL or basic literacy tutor. Work one-on-one with an ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) student or teach a student how to read and write.

We are a vibrant, active community of volunteers who work with adult ESOL students to improve their English proficiency through conversation classes, one-to-one tutoring, and citizenship classes.
