Literations is looking for volunteers to serve at Boston Public Elementary Schools and select Boys & Girls Clubs. STIPENDS AVAILABLE! Reading coaches work one-on-one with young readers from 1st grade to 4th. Coaches give students the opportunity to practice and strengthen their reading skills through 30-minute structured coaching sessions twice weekly, using our proven, evidence-based program. Nearly 70% of fourth graders in Greater Boston public schools are not reading at grade level, join our volunteer team and help students become stronger readers! The commitment is 4-5 hours per week (served over 2 days, 2+ hours each day) for the school year.School opportunities are typically available between 8:30 am - 2:30 pm, Mondays - Thursdays. After-school opportunities are typically available between 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Mondays - Thursdays. You will work with the same students every week to develop a relationship, serve as a mentor, and see meaningful improvement in their reading skills. No previous teaching experience is required - just a desire to help children become better readers! Our volunteers are supported by a Site Team Leader and attend monthly professional development meetings for ongoing support.
