Dreamfar High School Marathon (DHSM)
Ways to help | DHSM MentorDHSM mentors run alongside youth and help them train for and complete the Providence Marathon or Half Marathon by providing companionship, motivation, and support. Mentors run as part of the whole team, but are specifically matched in "running families" consisting of 4-6 mentors and 8-12 students. No prior running experience is required to volunteer for this program however mentors must be committed to training alongside their students.Event VolunteersEvent Volunteers are needed at each of the four races our runners participate in over the course of the DHSM season. Various volunteer opportunities include: organizing and distributing race numbers and shirts; supervising water stops; baking post-race snacks; selling DHSM apparel; managing attendance; and distributing race medals.DHSM LeaderDHSM operates in locations across the greater Boston area under the supervision of leaders. DHSM provides the structure and guidance to implement the program, and leaders oversee the application of the program at their individual sites.Saturday VolunteerSaturday Volunteers are needed each Saturday (November-April) to assist in the facilitation of the long runs. Various volunteer opportunities include: setting up water stops; standing at key points along the designated route and providing directions to runners; driving a sweep vehicle; and managing attendance. |

About us | Dreamfar High School Marathon (DHSM) is New England’s first high school marathon training program. We are a Greater Boston-based program that teaches high school students that anything is possible, even completing a marathon. With hard work, perseverance and guidance from dedicated mentors, our runners realize their potential as they train for the Providence Marathon. We teach our students realistic goal-setting and the value of commitment and teamwork – skills that ensure success in the classroom, on the road, and beyond. |
