Lifestock Liaison Volunteer

Wild Bunch Volunteer

Our rescue department is seeking compassionate folks able to respond in an on-call fashion when an animal is in distress. *Volunteers must have their own transportation and will not be asked to transport rabies vector species.

Administrative Support Volunteer

Our Animal Care and Adoption Centers and our Administrative Offices are often in need of administrative support from the volunteer department. Previous customer service experience and the ability to multi-task is highly recommended. This position requires weekday availability and a weekly commitment of at least two hours.

Do you love helping people with their pets? The Community Programs department is looking for volunteers interested in spending time with people and pets! The Wellness Waggin has three locations Mattapan, Dorchester and Roxbury and needs assistance at each location. This volunteer position is perfect for people that enjoy talking to others about pet care and meeting new people. Experience with reading animal behavior is preferred. Experience reading veterinary records is helpful but not necessary.

Animal Supplies

At this time, we are unable to accept bedding or other “soft goods”, or in-person supply drop-offs at our Animal Care and Adoption Centers. However, you can still send much-needed animal supplies through Amazon shelter wish lists for Boston, Dedham, and Brewster.

How you help

Volunteer Engagement recruits and supports over 500 volunteers and nearly 200 foster families who contribute more than 26,000 hours of service each year. Volunteers provide critical support for animal enrichment, training and socialization as well as advocacy, administration and customer service roles throughout the organization.
About us

For 120 years, The Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL) has responded to the needs of animals and the people who care about them. In fact, we are often the first to respond. With over 540 dedicated volunteers and 100 staff members, ARL lends unwavering support to local animals, families, and neighborhoods. We provide outstanding veterinary care, adoption, and field services. We also confront the root causes of animal cruelty and neglect through special police investigation and advocacy aimed at strengthening the laws that protect animals. Last year alone, we served more than 16,900 animals in need.
