Our missionCity Year helps students and schools succeed, while preparing the next generation of civically engaged leaders who can work across lines of difference. Diverse teams of City Year AmeriCorps members provide support to students, classrooms and the whole school. Schools that partner with City Year are up to two to three times more likely to improve in English and math assessments, and the more time students spend with AmeriCorps members, the more they improve on social, emotional and academic skills— skills that help students thrive in school and contribute to their community.

Ways to help

Mentoring

Our AmeriCorps Members are a diverse group of young adults ages 17-25 dedicating a year of service to Boston Public Schools. The Mentoring Program aims to give corps members a one-on-one relationship with a mentor by creating matches based on a corps member’s professional goals. The program runs from January – June, with applications typically launching in November.

How you helpVolunteers are an integral part of our work: helping Boston students, schools, and communities succeed. Whether you’re looking to make a one-time or ongoing commitment, work with your hands or inspire a student, there’s a volunteer opportunity for you.
About usCity Year contributes to a more joyful, just and equitable vision of public schools as places of academic, social and emotional learning, exploration and risk taking, belonging and connection; where adults meet students where they are with strengths-based strategies and data; and where all students have access to positive relationships and personalized learning environments that encourage them to thrive as creative thinkers and doers, practice lifelong learning skills, and persevere through challenges.
