Business Team Mentor

BUILD’s mission is to ignite the potential of youth in under-resourced communities to build Career success, Entrepreneurial mindsets, and Opportunity. We help students become the CEOs of their own lives. One of the key components of our organization is mentoring. Business Team Mentors volunteer weekly in a BUILD classroom for 60-90 minutes, supporting and motivating students on a youth business team. They provide thoughtful and compassionate feedback along the students' entrepreneurial journey and develop relationships with students that promote mutual trust and respect. This volunteer opportunity is working with high school students. There is no prior business experience required and we encourage people of all career backgrounds to apply. All mentors go through an orientation at the beginning of the year to go over role and expectations. There are also ongoing trainings, newsletters, resources and check ins with BUILD staff and teachers. Benefits and opportunities include:
  • Expand your own professional network
  • Attend student events to see next generation of entrepreneurs
  • BUILD swag
  • Attend appreciation and networking events
  • Impact and empower young people
Business Team Mentors are needed in the following schools: -Another Course to College -Jeremiah E. Burke High School -Community Academy of Science and Health -Charlestown High School -Dearborn STEM Academy -Excel High School -New Mission High School -Randolph High School

How you help BUILD mentors work in teams with our students from October to May to help them navigate launching real businesses, from ideation, prototyping, pitching to investors, and marketing to finally selling their products. Through the entrepreneurship journey, mentors provide the support of a positive adult role model and help our students develop skills they need to be successful professionals like communication, collaboration, innovation, and grit.
About us BUILD is a youth entrepreneurship program dedicated to creating a more diverse future workforce by ensuring students in Boston’s under-resourced communities have access to the mentorship, professional development opportunities, and funding they need to graduate high school, go to college, and launch successful careers.
