Connected to Organization --- not set --- Opportunity Title DescriptionWhat you offer: Experience with your own household budgeting and daily money management Patience, proactivity, and great attention to detail The desire to make a real difference in someone’s life 2-3 hours per month, at a time that works best for you The Boston Money Management Program (BMMP) at Ethos is a powerful volunteer-based program for low-income older adults whose cognitive or physical condition makes it difficult to carry out the routine tasks of money management. As a Volunteer Bill Payer, you would be trained to assist your client by sorting mail, writing out checks, balancing bank statements, and performing other similar tasks. The mission of the BMMP is to promote the dignity and autonomy of older adults and disabled individuals in Boston who do not have family or friends nearby who they can rely on. Volunteer Bill Payers help stabilize clients prevent evictions due to non-payment of rent, loss of utility and phone service, and premature placement of elders in nursing homes. If you would like to learn more about this opportunity to make a dramatic difference in the life of an older adult, please contact Kate at kbancroft@ethocare.org or 617-477-6622.
