| Our mission | Helping Our Women educates, empowers and supports women in the towns of Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown who are living with chronic, disabling or life threatening health conditions. We maintain an open-door policy to provide education and referrals to all community members. We carry out our mission by providing direct services in three key areas: Transportation to healthcare appointments; Financial Assistance for women who qualify; and COMPASS programs promoting wellness and social engagement. The women we serve come from a diverse range of life experiences, yet each one has a unique story and healthcare journey. Our mission to educate, empower and support women living with chronic or serious health conditions in the towns of Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown. Creating community at both our Provincetown and Eastham locations, HOW is the trusted resource center for women across the Outer Cape. In response to the loneliness epidemic and the ongoing health disparities all women face when accessing healthcare, our social connection and wellness programs are open to all women. We have an open door policy to provide information and referrals to any community member. |

| How you help | Helping Our Women is a community of individuals and organizations connected in our mission to serve the needs of women living with chronic health conditions on the Outer Cape while providing social connection and wellness programs to all women in our region. Our success is based on a strong network of relationships that includes all peoples who are with us in our mission. Please look at our website for more information and to learn about more ways to get involved. Volunteers play a vital role in the HOW community. You can make a difference by providing social support to clients, working with staff in our office, or providing rides to healthcare appointment on the Cape. Some volunteers work on a weekly basis; others work on specific events or serve on our “on-call” list for periodic projects. A few positions require special background or training. Most require only time, compassion and a willingness to learn a few basics. Bring your passion and share your skills! Transportation Assistance; Office Assistance and Support; Peer Wellness Coaching; Social Support (for example: help individual clients by providing social support with a home visit, a cup of coffee or to run an errand together); Tech Assistance (all we need is for another person to empathize and troubleshoot along with us. Work one-on-one with clients to help with basic technology skills, including sending emails, adjusting tablet settings, using Zoom, and more. All Tech Assistants will receive training to help with these skills.). |

| About us | The core values of compassion, assistance and support that brought together the first group of volunteers remain the foundation on which the staff and leadership at Helping Our Women carries out our mission today. Incorporated in 1993 as a 501(c)3, we expanded the scope of services from cancer patients to include all women diagnosed with chronic, life threatening and/or disabling illness in 1994. At HOW, all women are welcome to participate in our health & wellness programs that provide opportunities to connect with other women while learning or doing something new. In 2018, we celebrated 25 years of service– come visit our office at 34 Conwell Street in Provincetown. |
